The Candomba Lodge or Pousada (lodges are better known as pousadas in Brazil) is located in the heart of the National Park of Chapada Diamatina, inside the Capao Valley, 20 km away from the city of Palmeiras, and about 70 km away from the airport of Lencois. In the small village of Caete-Açu, about 3 kms from the pousada, you can find the basic services, including restaurants, supermarkets, and a health center.
Within a 10 minute walk you can enter the wonders of the National Park Chapada Diamantina, one of Brazil's most interesting nature preserves, due to the high level of endemic biodiversity encountered in the park. The hiking trails, stretching from the pousada into the reserve, allow visitors to admire the main attractions of the region: The Fumaça Falls, Iraquara Potholing Park , the city of Lençois, the peak of Pai Inacio and the waterfalls of the Rio Preto.
The pousada has 4 apartments and 5 chalets. This limits the number of guests to 28 at a time. All sleeping quarters are equipped with solar water heaters. The pousada has a restaurant, and most of the food served comes from the organically home grown vegetables of the pousada's garden. The restaurant also features a selected wine cellar, offering a sense of harmony with nature, body and soul. Amenities at the fabulous pousada include a unique indigenous sauna, heated with regional rocks, serving for a completely purifying and relaxing experience. Furthermore the pousada has a video room, table tennis and hammocks, tactically placed throughout the pousada for an afternoon nap.
As an additional service the pousada has a display of the entire park, made out of clay, along with the hiking routes, their distances and the time required for its completion.
Included in the amenities of the pousada is a biological vegetable garden, an orchard, and a bromelia greenhouse, as well as a special area, which serves to dry fruits and coffee.
The Capão River passes length the pousada´s area, providing access to refreshing and revitalizing baths. Local guides can be contacted through the pousada. Organized trips around the area are usually scheduled for after breakfast. The pousada also prepares lunch bags for all guests leaving for the hikes.
