The Pousada do Amparo is located in the oldest street of Olinda, where local artists gather to display their works, ranging from the modern or the naïve to impressionistic style, or even back to the classicism.
The Inn has been created by Kleber Dantas and Ângela Castelo Branco, who used material from local demolished buildings, dating back from the early colonial times. Here they maintain an art gallery - a permanent display of works from several native painters from Pernambuco.
Two houses form the Pousada do Amparo. One of the houses features an authentic plantation-style kitchen and the ”Flor de Coco”- Restaurant, which is built from old hardwood, decorated with oak vats and Dutch swords It serves delicious regional specialties.
The hillside setting of the garden offers a rare view on the center of Olinda and Recife. The pousada is surrounded by a colorful and attractive tropical garden, full of birds. There are also two inviting swimming pools, and another one, especially for children. In the basement, in the mid of the stone foundations, you´ll find a bar, which takes you back centuries in time, creating the atmosphere of an ancient wine cellar.
Lodging in this refuge of art and good taste is a true privilege due to the limited number of apartments available, 11 all in all.
