Description
Full-day tour in order to get to know the city of Rio de Janeiro, where we will visit the main cultural- and natural attractions of the “wonderful city”.
We will start the day early, driving up to the top of the Corcovado Mountain (702 m), and visit the Statue of Christ. From here we will have a 100% view of the city. Our guide will show and explain the main highlights and points of interest to you. After this breathtaking view we will slowly descend through the Tijuca Forest back into the “urban jungle” of the city. On our way, we will stop in the charming, old Santa Teresa district, where we will continue by feet, and take a stroll to see the elegant villas and visit interesting historical places, such as the “Parque das Ruínas”. From here again we have a beautiful view over the city and we will take a break, so the guide can provide further explanations about the history and topography of the city. Afterwards we continue down to the centre of the city by taking the last tramway-line, which is still operating in Rio. It runs over an old water aqueduct and takes us right into the heart of the city. In the downtown area we will stroll around in order to see the interesting places and buildings, stopping along the way for a lunch or a snack at one of Rio’s traditional Cafés from the beginning of the last century. Later in the afternoon we will meet our driver again, who will take us back to our hotel at around 4 PM.

Program
08:00 Pick up at the hotel, where you will meet our bilingual guide.
Corcovado and the Statue of Christ.
Drive through the Tijuca Forest to the Santa Teresa area.
Visit the “Parque das Ruínas” and walk to the Largo dos Guimarães in Santa Teresa.
Coffee and snack break at the café Porta Quente in Largo dos Guimarães.
Ride with the old Tramway to Largo da Carioca in the city centre.
Guided stroll to Cinelândia and the Imperial Palace at Praça XV.
Lunch at Confeitaria Colombo (optional and not included in our price).
Continuing the stroll to the Saara market area and the Tiradentes Square.
Return to hotel around 16:00.

What to take with you:
Light clothing & walking shoes. Do bring sunglasses, sunscreen and a hat or cap, to protect you from the sun.

All transportation, entrance fee to the National Park including the statue of Christ by Redentor, and a bilingual certified guide, who will accompany you on the whole trip
